Salah is a gift of Allah given to the Ummah of Nabi Sallallahu-Alayhi-Wa-Salam. It is the first thing we will be asked off on the Day of Judgement. Muhammad Sallallahu-Alayhi-Wa-Salam bought this gift for us from his miraculous journey of Miraj. It is the thing that connects one to the Lord of heaven and Earth. Allah wants us to speak to him directly, He wants to grant us whatever we ask for, He Subhana-wa-taala wants to listen to us! He gave us this gift of Salah that He gave to no one else. It is his blessing and Mercy.
He has made it obligatory with no excuse, yet we fail to fulfill this simple thing. It does not benefit Allah. He doesn’t need it, He is way beyond all this. All this is meant for the slaves of Allah. All this is meant for us.

There is a prescribed punishment for the one who misses or ignores the salah and especially Fajr, the Morning Prayer.

Narrated Samura bin Jundub:

One morning the Prophet said, “Last night two persons came to me (in a dream) and woke me up and said to me, ‘Proceed!’ I set out with them and we came across a man lying down, and behold, another man was standing over his head, holding a big rock. Behold, he was throwing the rock at the man’s head, injuring it. The rock rolled away and the thrower followed it and took it back. By the time he reached the man, his head returned to the normal state. The thrower then did the same as he had done before...They replied, ‘We will inform you: As for the first man you came upon whose head was being injured with the rock, he is the symbol of the one who studies the Quran and then neither recites it nor acts on its orders, and sleeps, neglecting the enjoined prayers. (Bukhari Book:87, Hadith: 171).

May Allah make us among the righteous and protect us from the torment of grave and hereafter.
