THE DEATH OF A MUSLIM LEGEND - UMAR IBN AL-KHATTAB (RA) - EMOTIONAL

When Umar ibn khattab (ra) was passing away, a man came into the gathering of Umar ibn khattab and he started praising Umar (ra) and he said Oh leaders of believers you were great, you did this and you did that and Umar (ra) said: tell me, will you be a testimony to this on the day of judgment? and then Abdullah ibn Abbas (ra) came and Umar (ra) was crying and Umar (ra) was saying, by Allah I could leave this Dunya, that nothing is against me and nothing is for me, I would be happy. Umar ibn Khattab (ra) is saying, if I left this Dunya, nothing for me and nothing against me, I would be happy.

Abdullah ibn Abbas (ra) entered the room and Umar (ra) was crying and Abdullah ibn Abbas (ra) ''Oh leader of believers, the Prophet (salaallah alayhi wasalam) left this dunya and He was happy with you, no two Muslim differed regarding your Caliphate, everybody was happy with your Caliphate and Umar (ra) said: I know that but it is this matter which concerns me, this Caliphate and then He said: Oh Abdullah make me sit up and they made him sit up and then He touched Abdullaha on his shoulder and He said: oh Abdullah will you bear testimony for me on the day of judgment.

Abdullah ibn Abbas (ra) said: I will bare testimoney for you on the day of judgment and then Umar (ra) was lying in the lap of His son & Umar (ra) told his Son (Abdullah) place my cheek on the ground and Abdullah (ra) said: why oh my father? He was kissing the forehead of  Umar (ra) and He placed His cheek on the ground. He said because if Umer is destined for Jannah then the pillows of Jannah are softer than your thighs and if Omar is destined for Jahannum then you don't want a hell bound person on your thigh.

Umar ibn Khattab told the family. He said: be moderate in my shroud because if Allah has Jannah destined for me then Allah will give me better than this and if Allah had Jahannum destined for me then Allah will strip me of these and then He said: be moderate in my grave, in digging my grave because if Allah has Jannah destined for me then He will expand my grave and if Allah had Jahannum destined for me then even that grave would squeeze and then he said to Abdullah.

Abdullah go and ask Aisha (ra) will she allow me to be buried next to the Messenger of Allah (saw) and Abu Bakr (ra) and Abdullah went and He knocked the door and He entered the house and Aisha (ra) was crying and He said to Her give her Salam but don't say Salam from Umar ibn Khattab (ra) because today the Muslims don't have the Leader and then He asked Aisha (ra). He said: Umar request, would you allow him to be buried next to the Messenger of Allah (saw) and Abu Bakr (ra) and Aisha (ra) said: I reserved that place for myself because one was my husband and one was my father but I give it to Umar and the narration mention when Abdullah was coming Umar was lying down and He said make me sit up and He made him sit up and He entered the room and He said ''Oh  my father your wish has been granted''

Umar ibn Khattab said: I had no greater wish than that and then Umar (ra) said: when I die and you are taking me to be buried, ask Aisha (ra) again because maybe because of my status she felt compelled to give me that place. Ask Her again and if she agrees then bury me there otherwise bury me in the graveyard of the Muslims and Umar (ra) passed away. He was taken and He was buried next to Abu Bakr (ra) and the Prophet (salaallah alayhi wa sallam).
